I have recently decided that I am going to change the skincare products, I use. My skin is generally clear, but, during that time of month, it can quite quite spotty, and a little oily. At the moment I use: Morning: - Garnier Clean Detox, Detoxifying Exfoliation Wash
- Simple soothing facial toner
- No7 Intelligent Balance Day Fluid Moisturiser
Night: - Garnier Daily Purifying Pads
I only cleanse at night, as Dr, Hauschka, website, says : Moisturising Day Cream, or indeed any of the Dr.Hauschka moisturisers, should not be used at night time as the skin uses this period to excrete toxins absorbed during the day - so any products that interfere with these natural processes should be avoided.
Regular use of night creams can mean that the skin becomes dependent on an external source of moisture rather than producing its own.
If your skin feels taut after cleansing in the evening, be patient. Wait 20-30 minutes and the skin will re-balance itself. Make sure that you are rinsing the Cleansing Cream off properly. If you have been using night creams for a long time, then your skin may need extra support in the changeover period to Dr.Hauschka, and in this case, we recommend the Rhythmic Night Conditioner ampoules.Right now, I have officially decided, on using these products. - Lush,Tea Tree Water, this is absolutely amazing, I went into Lush, and they gave me a small sample, and now I am officially in love with it, so I am just waiting for my current toner to run out.
- Clean&Clear Advantage Keep Clear daily treatment Lotion, has been recommended to me, and I really like it, but my local Boots and Superdrug, do not have it in stock.
But I was wondering, what everyone else, uses and if it's any good. I have bought a sample of Emma's Dr. Hauschka stuff, I am waiting for that to arrive, but has anyone else used it? What is it like? Help, is much appreciated. ;D

I use the Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Control Kit: Here!I'm new to the Acne Control Cleanser and the Acne Control Moisturizer, but I've been using the Fast Clearing Spot Treatment for years and it works wonders for me. Plus, it's cheap!

Yeah, I'll give that a go. But the Clean&Clear range is not as big in the UK as it is in the States, so I'm not sure they have the Clean&Clear Advantage range, in my local stores.
But has anybody tried St. Ives Arpicot scrub, is that any good?

I know a lot of people that use the St. Ives Apricot Scrub, it's very popular here. It didn't work well for my sister, though, so I'm not entirely sure.

During your time of the month, you can ask your dermatologist for a birth control. It helps keep your hormones in check so that you won't break out as much. Just ask him/her if there is a birth control that works best for keeping your acne clear during that time of the month.

I've used Clean & Clear's Sensitive Cleanser for years, twice a day, which had prevented any major breakouts. I use Biore Pore Perfect moisturiser, as well as their Exfoliating Facial Scrub twice a week. Boots Witch Hazel & Tea Tree Spot Stick has ends for day and night application and I think it's amazing - it gets rid of any spots or blemishes within two days.

I am going to ask around about that, I don't want any side effects, and end up with a gimpy period.

yeah, I actually read that in Seventeen, because your hormones are out of whack during that time, which causes hormones that make your skin break out go crazy. Try it out!
I actually take an antibiotic because I have an infection in my face, which you could have that comes and goes. Ask about that, too, but I think in your case a birth control would work out better.

I don't think you should take birth control. It has many side effects. It can cause many problems to your health. I suggest taking a natural alternative. I use Aubrey Organic's Facial Cleansing Cream. It is very very good!

But if you ask your doctor, he'll tell you everything you can take. I suggest just going to a dermatologist and asking him what you can do.

I can recommend Lush's Fresh Pharmacy face soap, hands down the best face wash I've ever used. As for the rest of the article well, it's simply not that easy, first, if your skin feels tight after cleansing it means it has been stripped bare of any defense in wich case, leaving it to it's own devices will be counter productive as it will stress the skin into producing more oil than needed resulting in clogged pores, moisturizing actually helps the skin to not produce as much oil (wich is it's natural defense against the elements) now, you may want to consider an oil free moisturizer, wich won't be as heavy on the skin and won't clog your pores.
Second if you get spotty only around that time of the month then no amount of skincare will take care of it, it's a hormonal thing and it has to be regulated hormonally. You can, however minimize the breakout by keeping your skin clean and relaxed, wich means cleansing and moisturizing morning and night.
For moisture I use Comfort on Call by Clinique and to cleanse Fresh Pharmacy soap by Lush.
BTW, a birth contro might be a solution (but not necessairily s)o and it doesn't have nearly as many side effects as say, acne drugs like "Accutane", for instance, weight gain is due to cravings not the pill itself, possible cancer risk increases are a minimal percentage and once you're on birth control you'll be monitored periodically by a doctor. As for it wacking up you period nope, it will reduce it in length and flow but will regulate it just as long as you take it, once off the pill your period will go back to the way it was before. Fatigue is easily avoided by taking the pill at night as this effect mostly occurs a few hours after taking the dose.

OMG! Thank you so much for this infomation. It's really helpful. I spoke to my mum about the pill, and she not really that confortable with it, I don't really know why, but anyway... She said that she would break out around her time of month, but that settled down after I was born. But tbh, it not really that bad, it just about 4 or so spots, and they are quite small too, bot those big girl thingy ones (thank you god) .
Lena-chan, I have taken your advice, I now use a speacial night treatment lotion, which moisturises as well, as cleanses the skin. I will also try the Lush soap you are talking about too, once my St. Ives runs out. It's rubbish to be honest, i really didn't like this, and I don't think I will be buying it again. I'm only using it because I don't like wasting things, I feel really guilty about throwing it away, and it's pointless if i just let it sit in my bathroom for years.
