lol Amy, Twilight is a drug. Just say no. The fuss: A teenaged girl with very low self esteem - who has never had a boyfriend before - falls madly and deeply (and quickly) in love with a manic depressive vampire (who has also never had a girlfriend before), and the series is basically, "I love you, I don't want to leave you," "No don't leave me!" "I won't, I won't." The side couples helped me through it. (Alice/Jasper, Rosalie/Emmett.) I'm a die hard Edward/Victoria shipper, though. And Jacob/... somebody. I would say Bella, but I cannot stand her.Jacob's too good for her. I wish I would have said no, I've read Twilight 3 times in the last week alone and selective read New Moon, for the reread(I mainly read all the Alice funny stuff... love her), I'm hoping to finish up the series this weekend. But basically you have described the books so far; and I can't stand all the melodrama though in the second book. As for Bella, I see a lot of myself in her from time to time, but then she seems so weak, that I just can't STAND her. Alice and Emmett are what make the books so amazing.

Bella IS weak, and then she turns into the strongest vampire there? Can you say Mary-Sue much?
The whole series just irritated me. The only believable couples are the ones that were established before the series began - Jasper and Alice, Emmett and Rosalie, etc.

Oh I completely agree.
Bella in the second book makes me want to punch something, honestly, I had to skip around to find when the Cullens came back to even be able to make sure I even wanted to finish it. I understand that when love ends it's crushing, and just leaves you empty, and like your whole world had been smashed to pieces, but the way Bella was written, I just can't even describe how much I wanted to scream, and punch something.
I can't begin to describe how much Alice and Emmett make me happy, they erally remind me of my two best friends, like SO much, and I think that's what keeps me reading, well that and for some reason I love Edward, even if he is a bit pathetic in some ways.

Re: Bella in New Moon. I can relate to how she felt - like a zombie - but in my defense, I was already incredibly depressed before I got to that stage, AND I had just moved across the country away from all of my friends and the people who loved me back near my family, who honestly can't stand me. I wasn't doing well in school, I had no friends where I was, and I was just a wreck. I had a LOT of contributing factors to my zombified state. Bella went pretty much dead only after Edward left. Oh sure, she missed the Cullens as a whole, but it was Edward who sent her spiralling into that. I'm sure if just the Cullens had moved and Edward had stayed, she'd've been fine. A little upset, but fine.
The series really annoys me because Bella just can't function without a man in her life, and I really, really hate that.

You're right; and that isn't a healthy thing to project to the younger people who will read these books. I get that it happens, but really, do you have to make it sound almost normal to get that depressed because your boyfriend has left? It's not a good example to set for people.
Even with that I plan on finishing the series.

Same. It irritated the life out of me, but if it's a series, I just have to finish it. The only time I can manage to avoid finishing a series is if it's extremely boring ad/or extremely poorly written.

:/ i don't like twilight. well, maybe a little bit, but only the first book. i read it a couple of years ago and thought it was alright but there rest of the books.. i can't find one thing i like about them. the characters are one dimensional and the whole love story between edward and bella is so.. unrealistic. AND THE PLOT? GENERIC. clumsy girl comes to a new town where all the boys at her school like her, including the most attractive guy in school - EDWARD CULLEN! wowomgyhey!

The first time I read it, I seriously thought someone managed to get a crappy piece of fanfiction published. I was like, "Wait. Where's the real book?" I used to write like that. When I was twelve. And had never written before.
One day, SMeyer's going to reread her books and go, "...These are so BAD." And rewrite them all and they'll actually be somewhat bearable.
