Ok, I just state the obvious ;D
Converse Chucks (or if you want cheaper ones, there are plenty similar shoes by different companies).
They look really casual, but if you take simple black ones, you can combine them with many outfits. If you take a pair with a higher leg (my dictionary says this is the right word, but it sounds wrong, I hope you know what I mean), you could wear them even when it´s getting cold and rainy outside.
In summer I like ballet flats, but I put insoles (?) in them, because the soles of the shoes are quite thin and my feet start to hurt if I walk too much in them (think I´m getting old, lol).
So all in all, if it´s not too cold outside, I wear chucks or ballet flats to university.

Personaly, I don't like converse (I don't know why) but it definitively is the best choice for confy (and easy to wear) shoes. Ballet flats are cute but not that confortable (well, it's really hard to find very confortable ballet flats). The interesting thing could be snickers, (a little à la Kristen Stewart). It's original (well, more than converse), funny and really confy. And you find absolutly all the styles (here some Topshop) : Reebok does some cool and, sometimes, really fashionable snickers. Here an exemple of great red reebok sneakers... But personally, again, I'm not fond of sneakers, I only have some blue topshop sneakers (but I'm dying to buy those reebok, if I find them). So I found the confy choose that feels like slippers : the fringed flat booties. It's not the most fashionable think but it's way better than Ugg. But again, converse seems to be the obvious choice.

I don´t think you can go wrong with cute ballet flats - you can find them in all colours and relatively cheaply. Topshop are great for flats that last.
My favourite shoes for uni were a pair of very low heeled tan Mary Jane style shoes that I found in a boutique. So comfy!

I love Ballet flats I'm definitely need to buy some! To be honest I think I need a huge wardrobe revamp!

Oh ! That's the perfect excuse to go shopping ! The fringe boot are perfect for a dry fall (or a not too wet one ; here I have dry fall and winter so I wear them a lot). It goes with everything ; pants from skiny to bootcut, shorts, skirt and dresses (I love to wear them with a clear knitwear dress and some knitwear tights when it get's cold, but it doesn't work with all the fringed boots). Found those ones : If it rains a lot where you live, ankle boots are nice, especially if it's in leather or at least some good quality shoes (flat or with a heel wich is not too high for you). Now, it's the ankle boots trend, so it's easy to find. That's more an investment, because it usually cost more, but you can keep it a long time and flat booties are always a basic (these on Urban Outfitters us website) : Oh, some Dr Martens ! That's a good investment and it gives a strong feel when you wear them with cute outfits. In conclusion : - right now you'd better buy something you will be able to wear during fall and winter (so if it's really cold and rainy during fall where you live, topshop snickers and ballet flats won't be the best choice), - if you'd rather change you're shoes a lot, buy something cheap. - if you can invest in some good leather booties, do it, it will last you a long time. - Ankle boots are not confy enough ? Some fringe booties will be perfect. The best is to go shopping and you will find what you need. Just think that you will wear it a lot the coming fall/winter season. (EDIT) Minnetonka sell really good quality fringe booties around £27-30 only : More Minnetonka here and here.

Thanks ^^ but that wasn't really a chore, I love to do online shopping for everything. Especially when I have no money to spend : watching is almost like wearing those things.
Yeah, fringe boots are marvellous. I wear mine almost all the time. Even when it's rainy actually... It's like indestructible. And know that I'm wearing it I can tell you : it's REALLY like slippers.
Send us a pic when you by some, yeah ?

I started college earlier this year too (April, here), and got shoes For school it was always sneakers and trainers, but in summer that was nightmare! I first got some shoes with a little heel, and it was cool because it was peep and my red toenails looked awesome xD But sometimes I've got to walk a lot through the center and it's not comfortable :/ So, I always count on ballerinas (ballet shoes), they're really comfortable everytime! I have a pair of summer shoes which I use a lot, then I got ballerinas but the sole was quite thin and it unsticked, and then I recently got new ones, with animal print at the sides. Ballet shoes rock! In winter I used my boots a lot, they're quite Emma's like and comfy. I'd love to get gladiator sandals but in the shop my dad works in they only have high heels :/ And I'd definitely love to go in flip flops, but my feet sweat a lot in summer and they would get dirty °-°
