Emma wouldn't be famous as Hermione, but she might still be famous

I'm not bashing HP. I'm bashing the movies and commercialisation. It wasn't always bound to happen. When I was 7 and first read it, it wasn't bound to happen. I'm just saying they've stripped away everything about the books. The franchise is a money machine. You hardly hear about the books anymore. It's always movies and theme parks and fancy parties and money and this and that..and all this glitz and glamour. It's an oversized, overworking money machine. And when it comes down to it, the heart of everything is the books. That's where everything truly lies. Whether someone is a fan of Harry Potter in itself, or the mad money machine. It shouldn't be about all the glitz and glamour and Hollywood s**t that it has been turned into. At all.
I still love the real Harry Potter.

but can you really blame the fact that it's the comercialized or the fact that not as many people read as people who would rather just go sit two hours and watch the movie. and sure the business people who have never read the books are only doing it for money, but they are definatly people who are making the films that are doing it because they like harry potter and want to spread the story, you can't blame them

I can blame them. If they want to spread the story, they can be accurate and keep it's integrity. It is possible.

but they wouldn't purposely change it, would they? they are doing the best the can to stay true but sometimes they can't because the book is to long and things of that sort. I have faith that the people who really love harry potter and who are making those movies are only doing it for the fans and try to stay as close as the book as they can. Why would they change it for no reason?

To make a pretty penny. The books are not Hollywood, and they want Harry Potter to be Hollywood so that it brings in more money. The books are not set up to their needs. The hero does not get the main girl, so they try to change it and make it look that way. He doesn't boast, and brag, nor does he like it..So they try and make it look like he does. The main girl is not attractive, nor is she a heroin im the books. So they glam her up and just make her the heroin. The best friend, does more than just sit around making stupid remarks and hiding behind the main person, like a Hollywood best friend. So, they reduce his entire character into comic relief, just the way Hollywood likes it. The plot, is not very Hollywood in itself either. So they chop it up, edit out some of the parts of the books that make the stories, and throw in their own stuff for a money machine. They cut out most of the book, and add in scenes they think are 'cute' and 'entertaining' and will sell the movie more, taking away from the original concept. People say those are minor details, but the minor details are what makes Harry Potter, Harry Potter. And changing plot lines, is major (not saying you said that, but tons of people do).
Whatever dignity the books had, before the movies came along, has been completely stripped, slaughtered, and then burned alive. Harry Potter has become something you poke fun at, take the piss out of it, and to scoff at. It was NEVER like that before all this Hollywoodisation came into it. The books don't need changing and glamming, or they would have never sold as much as they did beforehand.

so you really think that all people just care about money and exploiting stories? I highly, highly doubt that. If you reallly want to doubt people that much, then go ahead. I believe they have reasons for what they do, and have not shamed the books; not saying they are as good as the books, they have not done anything wrong. Most of my friends like harry potter, but do not read the books only follow the movies. I don't nkow anyone that makes fun of harry potter because of the movies? No one makes fun of harry potter because the movies are differnt then the books that's just ridiculous.
