Bad. I've got a sinus infection that has rendered me temporarily deaf on my left side. It's the most annoying thing ever, hearing the glare of silence all day

That's really awful, I hope it won't last too long.

So do I. It feels like when you have water in your ear, except there's no roaring and your voice doesn't echo in your head. You just don't hear anything. I can't even hear the tv less than two feet away over the keyboard. It's terrible.

How are you managing at school, not being able to hear the teachers?

Didn't go today. I don't think I'll go tomorrow either if I'm still half deaf. And now my right ear hurts too.
I dunno what I'm gonna do. In more than half of my classes, I sit on the right and the teacher stands in the middle (my left) and talks. I'm gonna be screwed.

Ugh, making up schoolwork is not fun. Did you go to a doctor?

My mother refuses to take me. Apparently we have thousands of dollars for her to go to the doctor's every three weeks, and for my dad to go when he needs to, but we don't have a hundred dollars for one visit for me.

But it's really important for you to visit a doctor! If a sinus infection is not treated within 2-3 weeks after you get it, it can become chronic!

And I've already had it for a week (but it wasn't so bad that I couldn't hear, it just felt like my ears needed to be popped) and my mother knows this. And even though all sinus meds come in both 250 and 500 mg pills, she insists that any doctor will give me 500 mg pills, which I'm not able to swallow. (They get stuck in my throat and it's quite painful for days until they pass, and my mother knows this.)

You need to get to a doctor soon to try and get this sorted out, your health is really important.

Wow, you don't even physically know me and you care about my health. Makes me feel all the more better about my mother. /sarcasm
