I was wondering what you girls thought of the idea of girls not needing boys for things like buying diamonds, fixing things, etc.
Or drinking beers (usually a male thing).

my thoughts exactly! My ex laughs when I tell him how much I've changed, since I use to love it when guys would buy me little things, now i'm like shove off i can get it my own damn self.

WOOT *standing ovation* I'm quite the feminist. I love guys and all, but more power to chicks being independent! We don't need them for everything. I can drink beer, fix things, and buy things for myself w/o a guy to do it for me.

Aww surely you haven't planned that for me a year and a half in advance! Just kidding lmao That's so awesome though! Paris is great. I loved the shopping, and I ate so much french bread there I got sick lmao Litterally.

French Bread = great.
I can't wait!!! She isn't going to be happy though (she hates it when people buy her crazy expensive things.)

Yeah, that's really expensive. I don't like it when my friends spend more than $20 on me. So they lie to me lol But my parents can spend all the money they want on me lmao

lol. I hate it as well, but I don't care how mad she gets since it's her graduation present.

LOL, Lyndsey, let's see how random you can be for topics here. But no, this is a great question, and I would hope that anyone here would support independence and whatnot. I think it's more convenience than dependence for me to have my dad fix things for me, although at the moment I probably wouldn't be too handy with much (though I'm pretty nifty with computers and that sort of thing ^^) - but I look forward to doing things myself in the future, when I move out of my messy family's place and pursue my dream career (whatever it ends up being). I'm not really one of those diamond-crazed girls, I want something no one has, but whatever that ends up being, I'll have no problem buying it for myself. I look at it the same way I would a designer dress or other really expensive item. It would be ridiculous to hold back for your "suitor" or whatever to buy it for you, cuz who knows how long it'll take for you to find a proper guy to buy it for you? (Or what if you find the right guy, but he sucks at giving you stuff? lol) As for beer, I hate how it tastes and am currently underage anyway, so that's a bit irrelevent for me lol.

lol, regular beer sucks. So I totally agree BUT they have stuff called Belgium Lembics and CHOCOLATE beer, so if I can ever find that stuff while I'm over in England I'm so going to try it.

I'm underage. I like some beers. My parents don't give a crap if I drink, as long as I'm doing it responsibly. And yeah, my dad and my brother (when he's home from college) doing things for me is more of a convenient spoiled Daddy's girl thing. If I wanted to fix things and kill bugs, I could. But I don't want to, so for now my daddy does it. Until I move out..then I'll just do it.

I'm all for guys buying me gifts and whatnot but not when they want to "buy" me over or just to treat me as some sort of tophey.
