Choosing a Pair of Glasses « Thread Started on Nov 3, 2009, 1:21am »
I found out today, after an exam, that I would really benefit from glasses. I don't know which to get. I am 18 going into college and don't want something that will attract attention to my face in the wrong way. What do you guys suggest. My friend has recently got a shocking pink rectanular frame, and it's really cute. They look young and fresh. I personally like a thin rectangle frame one too, you could get those, but with a bigger stick thing that goes behnd the ear, with a pattern on it.

The thin rectangle frame stay the most popular. Personnaly I had my first glasses in this shape, but now, mine are a little more square.
But it depend of the shape of your face, I found this, it can help you in your choice : What's Your Face Shape? (you chose your face shape and it tells you what shape of glasses you can were and tips to choose it).
Once you know that, the best is to try all the shapes that could suit you until you find the good one. First, you might like something thin as you're not used to were glasses. And, trying it, don't forget that you're gonna were them a lot, so don't chose something you will like two month and then get borred of.
Here some tips I found to choose the color :
Skin Skin tone is the prime element in determining coloring. All complexions fall into one of two color bases — blue (cool) or yellow (warm). A cool complexion has blue or pink undertones, and a warm complexion has a "peaches and cream" or yellow cast. Olive skin is considered cool because it is a mixture of blue and yellow. (In the United States, cool, blue-based complexions are more common than the yellow-based warm complexions. About 60 percent of the population are "cools.")
Eyes Eye colors are usually a secondary element in determining coloring because of the many variations of eye color. For example, blue eyes can range from a cool almost-violet to a pale blue-gray, which is warm. Brown eyes can vary from a light cider shade (warm) through a medium-brown to a cool almost-black.
Hair Hair colors are also considered warm or cool. Strawberry blond, platinum, blue-black, white, salt-and-pepper and "dishwater" brown are cool. Warm hair colors include golden blond, flat black, brown-gold, "carrot" and "dirty" gray.
Eyeglass Frame Colors
Once you have determined if you are "warm" or "cool", then you can find the eyeglass frame colors that will suit you the best.
Some examples of frame colors best for warm coloring are: camel, khaki, gold, copper, peach, orange, coral, off-white, fire-engine red, warm blue and blond tortoise. For cool coloring, the best eyeglass frame hues are black, rose-brown, blue-gray, plum, magenta, pink, jade, blue and demi-amber (darker) tortoise.
Obviously, with this stunning eyes color and peach skin, your in the "cool". So, you have these choices.

Ooh, you girls are both so cute! Rivendell you have really pretty eyes and lips, and Juliet your skin is amazing and it makes me want to cry!
I'm supposed to wear glasses and I have a few pairs (nothing designer, unfortunately) but don't really use them. What I've learned from glasses shopping though, is that it helps if you go with an idea of a shape to the shop, or even a picture from a magazine, and then try it on to see if it actually fits your face. If it doesn't, my best advice (and what I actually did everytime I had to buy glasses or sunglasses) is to try on as many pairs as you can (or the patience of the shop assistant permits you ) because you might be surprised on what looks good. I've always liked thin rectangular, minimalistic frames but it turns out that a more round shape goes better with my features. Also, don't be afraid to glam them up, black looks good with everything, but other colours may add a fun touch to your glasses. For example my first frames had a slight green/yellow tint and I got many compliments on them. Red-ish and pink ones are really cute too. I mean, when you get older you'll have the opportunity to wear the more serious 'monochromatic' frames, but now you can try something more colourful. Hope this helps and show us a picture when you do buy them!

Wow thanks for all the help guys. I guess you could say I came down on two sides. I got some cutesy simple black frames. My skin is awesome in bare minerals but i don't have any make up in the pic in this post so i photoshoped it I look like poopoo cause I was about to go clean and figured make-up would be useless .
